The UAE Ministry of Finance is successfully transitioning its services, internal systems and processes to digital infrastructure. The Ministry of Finance participated in GITEX Technology Week 2018, held from 14 to 18 October at Dubai World Trade Centre, as part of the federal government entities’ platform and in line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE. The Ministry also took the opportunity to showcase its technically innovative initiatives and best technical managerial practices.
As part of its participation, the Ministry introduced audiences to its state-of-the-art electronic and smart services through specially organised workshops at which the process of applying for an MoF Certificate of Status of Business/Business Person and other supplier services were presented. These workshops enhanced the Ministry’s effective communication with its customers and contributed to its ability to monitor their needs and respond to enquiries, suggestions and opinions about Ministry services.
Additionally, the Ministry conducted three interactive talk sessions to discuss MoF’s technical innovations and the global trends in digital transactions, Blockchain and artificial intelligence initiatives. The MoF also signed a number of cooperation agreements and memorandums of understanding with regard to the technical field.
The Ministry of Finance participated in GITEX Technology Week 2017, held from 8 to 12 October at Dubai World Trade Centre, as part of the federal government entities’ platform. This participation enhanced the Ministry’s efforts to increase public awareness of its electronic and smart services to achieve mGovernment indices. Furthermore, the event served as an opportunity to gain customers’ opinions and feedback first-hand, thereby enabling the Ministry to upgrade its services and ensure that they meet expectations. GITEX also offered the opportunity for employees to get acquainted with the best digital transformation practices at local, regional and global levels.
The Ministry took the opportunity of GITEX to announce that it would be adopting cloud computing technology to provide advanced financial and human resources services to federal authorities, in cooperation with the Federal Authority for Human Resources and Oracle International. The aim of this new application is to provide a secure and freely available information infrastructure that requires minimal intervention from administrators and other users of electronic systems.
The Ministry also introduced its latest electronic and smart services, as part of the federal government platform, and signed a number of partnership agreements with several government agencies to develop full-system benefits that will improve both the administrator and customer’s digital service experience. MoF employees also conducted awareness programmes to learn first-hand about customers’ opinions and to introduce them to the frameworks involved in using electronic and smart government services.
A panel discussion on the e-Dirham system was well attended, as was a workshop on MoF’s Tax Certificate service that was hosted in addition to an interactive live interview, broadcast on social media channels, to respond to the customers’ inquiries and suggestions, and to obtain their views on “suppliers’ registration” and “registration renewal” services in the Federal Supplier Registration portal. Additionally, MoF representatives shared the Ministry’s experiences in implementing an electronic archiving system, which includes document and content management.
The Ministry of Finance received more than 600 visitors during GITEX Technology Week 2017, and achieved a general satisfaction rating of 93% for the services it provided through the platform.
The Ministry of Finance participated in GITEX Technology Week 2016, held from 16 to 20 October at Dubai World Trade Centre, as part of the federal government entities’ platform. This participation highlighted the Ministry’s commitment to introduce electronic and smart services, to enhance effective communication with customers and partners, as well as to establish collaboration and coordination frameworks with these stakeholders through electronic partnerships in the areas of information exchange.
During the GITEX exhibition, the Ministry showcased a variety of new and improved services that utilize innovative technologies to develop and modernize the information structure, thereby adopting a pioneering approach in the country. Ministry employees also engaged directly with customers, learned more about their needs, and participated in an interactive workshop entitled “The Customer’s Voice”, in which they explained MoF’s most commonly used smart services, as well as presenting new advancements and updates that have further improved these services.
MoF’s innovative participation included the launch of its Snapchat account, “MOFSNAP”, with the aim of promoting e-participation and publicising all the Ministry’s activities during GITEX, in accordance with its vision and objective of providing distinguished services that gain the satisfaction of its customers and the general public. The MOF team also utilised a smart questionnaire to measure customers’ satisfaction levels and evaluate their experience.
During GITEX Technology Week 2016, MoF received more than 500 visitors and achieved a general satisfaction rating of 94% for the services it provided through the platform.
