Macroeconomic and Fiscal Policy Department


The Macroeconomic and fiscal Department reports to the Under Secretary of MoF, providing statements, proposing new policies and conducting advanced research.


This department has the following roles and responsibilities:


Proposing fiscal policies and submitting them to the Under Secretary.


Collecting and updating the financial statements on revenues and expenditures of the UAE.


Developing economic and statistical models to predict the revenues and expenditures.


Collecting and updating financial statements on public debt and developing economic models to analyse the impact of public debt on the country and its future projections, and proposing funding sources to reduce its burden on the economy.


Providing suggestions to rationalise expenditure, and effectively address deficit in the general budget, in coordination with the competent departments of the ministry.


Developing standards for revenue forecasts and expected expenditures in the short, medium, and long terms, in coordination with the competent departments of the ministry.


Conducting applied financial and economic research and field studies.


Providing expertise, consultations and solutions in the financial and economic fields.


Keeping up with world economy, development trends and growth ratios, studying its effects on the general budget, providing suggestions that would clarify financial policies of the country.


Building complementary relations with statistical and research centers in the country, and contributing to the development of data infrastructure.


Any other competencies related to the work of the department, or entrusted to it by the Under Secretary.
