The UAE launched the World Government Summit in 2013 to reinforce the UAE’s position as a regional and international leader and support its global diplomacy with other governments and organisations.

Held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the World Government Summit serves as a platform where prominent leaders, ministers, senior officials, decision makers and social, financial and economic specialists gather to exchange future-shaping knowledge and ideas.

The seventh Summit, held in February 2019, cemented powerful international alliances and partnerships that support the work of governments. Each year, the platform hosts workshops, discussion panels and other initiatives that showcase the latest trends in government best practice and introduce technological solutions to global challenges such as climate change and the sustainable well-being of humanity.

“The World Government Summit is an important platform for exchanging experiences and knowledge, bringing together government leaders, decision-makers, thought leaders and the private sector to discuss the risks and challenges facing our Arab economies, develop appropriate solutions, and develop the future of governments, based on the latest developments and future trends.”

HE Obaid Humaid Al Tayer, Minister of State for Financial Affairs

As a committed strategic partner to the World Government Summit, the UAE Ministry of Finance supports its success on both a regional and global level by organising discussion sessions to address the most pressing issues. Over the years, these have included topics related to the emerging technologies transforming the financial services landscape, those that support the digital economy, and public-private partnerships that enhance future development strategies.
The sessions also highlight the UAE’s leading financial and economic models, high-quality infrastructure, business services and facilities, and furthers the country’s financial ties on Arab and international levels.
