In a bid to emphasize the importance of quality, the Ministry of Finance (MoF) celebrated the World Quality Day, at its headquarters in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
The ceremony was attended by HE Mariam Mohammad Al Amiri, Assistant Undersecretary for the Management of Financial Resources, and Dr. Abdul Rahim Al Zarooni, former Advisor to the Ministry, as well as a number of department directors, heads of departments and staff.
The ceremony began with an opening speech by the Director of Strategic and Future Management, Sheikha Khalifa bin Za'al followed by a screening of the film "Empowering the Youth." The film focuses on the importance of building the capacity of the youth, and giving them the opportunity to innovate and achieve leadership positions, especially given the pivotal role played by the youth sector in contributing to sustainable economic and social development in the country. The film "Kaizen and continuous improvement” also screened, which touched upon the concept of Kaizen and its strategy.
HE Mariam Mohammed Al Amiri praised the Ministry's continuous efforts to enhance its services and raise the efficiency bar of the operational performance, to achieve the best levels of institutional quality. HE Al Amiri also stressed the Ministry’s keenness to improve services to meet the highest quality standards. The process falls in line with the Ministry’s strategic objectives to contribute to the UAE Vision 2021, which aims to make the UAE one of the best countries economically and socially marking the Golden Jubilee Anniversary of founding the Union.
HE said: “World Quality Day is an opportunity to review the Ministry’s achievements and successes, in terms of the quality of services offered, to further improve them in accordance with best international practices.” HE stressed on the importance of adopting quality standards in finance practices to meet customer satisfaction.
The ceremony included a special segment on quality titled “Ministry’s Success Story” review of the Ministry’s successful models, which contributed positively to the Ministry’s work. This segment was attended by HE Mariam Mohammad Al Amiri, Assistant Undersecretary for the Management of Financial Resources, and Dr. Abdul Rahim Al Zarooni, former Advisor to the Ministry. At the end of the event, the Ministry Quality Systems logo was launched, an initiative which works on enhancing the quality in institutional work.
The Ministry of Finance received the PASS99 2012: Integrated Systems Management System for its IT systems including ISO 20000, ISO 27001 and ISO 22301, and is the first in the country to obtain this certificate issued by the British Institute of Standards and Standards BSI. These integrated management systems has strengthened the Ministry's ability to meet all requirements of quality system standards.
In 1990, the United Nations adopted a World Quality Day to raise global awareness of the importance of quality and its contribution to the advancement of nations and organizations. The day was set for the second Thursday of November each year. This is an opportunity for companies, organizations to celebrate their achievements in the field of quality and to raise awareness of the importance of quality to make positive changes in the business sector and services.
